Material Characterization and Qualification

MCQ Composites provides users an advanced composite analysis software solution with robust speed, accuracy and a user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI). MCQ Composites is designed to characterize and qualify material properties that can be used as input for finite element analysis for simple or complex structural components. The methodology depends on well accepted Classical Laminate Theory (CLT) and micromechanics. This allows the user to almost instantly generate vast amount of information for the material of interest, whether it be a composite, hybrid, metallic or ceramic material system. The information that user can output from the software package are listed below:
  • Provides library of fiber/matrix/ply properties that can be expanded or modified easily and can be used/exported for FE analysis.
  • Predicts effective fiber/matrix properties using lamina test/literature data
  • Predicts laminate properties for mixed layups using either fiber/matrix or ply properties as input
  • Predicts effective stress-strain curve for matrix using laminate in-plane shear test/literature data
  • Predicts and characterizes ply behavior under different loading conditions and for damage initiation (first ply failure) and final failure loads.
  • Predicts design failure envelope for any user selected biaxial loading and considering damage initiation and final failure loads.
  • Predicts parametric carpet plots for strength, stiffness, and Poisson's ratio properties for different user defined layups. The software also generates these layups automatically for user's ease of use. The feature is desirable for material selection or design engineers.
  • Predicts A- and B-Basis Allowables, sensitivity and probabilistic information which is extremely desirable for Aerospace material certification requirements.
The user can choose/select from inbuilt popular failure criteria or define any using user defined option for any or all the analysis. MCQ Composites displays the results in graphical and table format which can be easily exported to text files for later use. Several locations the user can import test data for instant comparison of the predictions against test data.
